Finding one’s path in life is never easy. One must always fight the fate or “destiny” that others set before them while trying to forge their own way in life. As the great William Shakespeare once said, “It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves.” In author Howard Jone’s book Edafos: Divine Wind, a young boy must learn for himself the journey from the life he felt he was fated to live, to the destiny he sets out for himself.
In this book, a brand-new world of fantasy and action forms. A young man seeking to protect his mother from cruelty and corrupt officials in his local town finds himself thrust into a perilous journey after helping a young woman with powerful magic stop a threat. From there, Jor, Jane and several others form a unique bond and go on a quest as magic and chaos from all sides threaten to stop them from changing the fate set out before them. This was a lengthy, detailed and magical read to say the least. The author does a fantastic job of collecting a vast array of characters to populate this large new world known as the realm of Edafos. Seeing the vast character progressions throughout this long tale make the story flow smoothly, getting the readers engaged on a more personal level.
This is a book for anyone who enjoys fantasy, action, adventure and in-depth fantasy driven mythologies fleshed out in a Game of Thrones meets Lord of the Rings style epic fantasy. As a fan of the genre, it was great to see such in-depth thematic storytelling with fully realized character growth throughout the book. Jor especially has a harrowing journey, going from a young man fighting to protect his mother to an adventurer fighting against undead armies, necromancers, corrupt soldiers and more.
This is a brilliant read that really does an amazing job of capturing the reader’s attention early, giving them a glimpse of a hero in the making while showcasing powerful allies and menacing enemies that unfold the dangers and large-scale mythology this world has to offer. Action-fueled and character driven, this is a fantastic read for fantasy fans everywhere, so be sure to grab your copy of author Howard Jones’ novel Edafos: Divine Wind today.
