When one thinks of adventure and new lands to explore and discover, modern science tells us that as it stands now, space is truly the final frontier left to explore. The milestones we are undertaking as a species to reach Mars and beyond are in the headlines more than ever before. As Nikola Tesla once said, “The feeling is constantly growing on me that I had been the first to hear the greeting of one planet to another.”
In author Ross Haines novel Dragon Eye Chronicles Book 2: Time Quake, the author delves into the second novel of his hit sci-fi series that sees mankind evolved, clones, cyborgs and so much more come into the fray. As Mrs. Nightshade and an evil beyond recognition become a threat to everyone from Neptune to Earth, a battle on multiple fronts ensues; from Major Paterson and his family to an alliance between Earth’s Defense Force and Cyborgs to face the threat and a colonization effort that comes into conflict with a race that can absorb human DNA and repurpose it into new beings.
This is quite a unique, detailed and engaging sci-fi epic adventure. While I had not read the previous book in the series before, the author does a great job of introducing the main cast of characters and delving deeply into the mythology of this series so that newcomers will thoroughly enjoy the narrative. The combination of mythology, light versus darkness themes and a deep-seated sci-fi narrative really gives off vibes of Star Wars style storytelling, while the inclusion of military forces and colonization efforts are reminiscent of other sci fi classics like Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica and Stargate SG-1.
This book is the perfect read for anyone looking for a good sci-fi series to jump into, especially one with a rich history and mythology built into the narrative already and memorable characters both good and bad. The interesting plot development of characters like Mrs. Nightshade and her various iterations/clones spread throughout various points in time really keeps the reader engaged and invested in the book’s developing plot.
A lengthy and must-read sci-fi epic, author Ross Haines Dragon Eye Chronicles Book 2: Time Quake is a brilliant venture into the growing battle of good versus evil, light versus dark. The combination of various sci-fi elements like cyborgs and clones in space didn’t feel forced, but a natural progression of the growing mythology. From colonization in space to faeries and the mystery of the paradox, this is a truly engaging read that is not to be missed.
