The life of Apostle Wislet Charles is inspirational and assures followers of Christ that nothing is impossible if you believe in him. Apostle Wislet Charles takes the reader on a journey through his life, highlighting important events and the experiences he went through that made him the man he is today. Reading about the author makes one ponder about crucial things in life like the meaning of life and what happens after one’s death. The author helps the reader understand why believers have to endure some things, including pain and suffering to strengthen their faith in the Lord. I appreciate Apostle Wislet Charles for, through his narration, one could pick limitless lessons on being a good Christian and wholesome person.
The author starts the book by giving a little background of himself. He writes about being the black sheep of his family and how sickly he was as a child. Being the black sheep of the family is never easy for many. You seem to be the odd one and are sometimes judged for how you behave. For the author, however, being different from others did not make him resent life, however this trait in fact helped build the man he is. One cannot help but sympathize with the author when he narrates his ordeal at the hospital after an accident. His admission to the hospital, the physical pain he went through, and being unable to do basic things such as answering the call of nature voluntarily show how much agony Apostle Wislet Charles was in.
The author writes how during one visit to the hospital, his spirit left his body and went to hell. This may seem implausible at first but the more you read, the more you understand what the Apostle is talking about. This was in December 1988. The author narrates how he traveled through a dark tunnel, and got to an even darker place where he started sweating profusely because of the heat. He writes how a gate opened and how the spirit of the Lord led him through the dark place. The most absurd part was that he heard voices calling for help, saw coffins that had pastors, and saw demons. The experience in hell was frightening. The author says that the Lord spoke to him and told him that if he does not change his ways then he would be hell-bound. All this happened before he regained consciousness at the ICU.
Through the author’s life story, Christians learn that God gives people second chances. That God loves his people and he would allow one to reform before punishing them. The narration was chilling and sometimes hair-raising. I enjoyed reading the parts where Apostle met with people who believed in God and were happy to share his word. His encounters show that the word of God is still alive and many people have faith in the almighty.
Hell Is Real is an easy read that is enlightening and thought-provoking. The author’s intent is not to scare one into believing, but to make the reader understand that the path to righteousness is the only true path.
