Hollywood Book Reviews

Soul Seeker is an exciting thriller that puts the reader on the edge from the start of the book to the end. The author’s astounding creativity and writing skills are displayed through the pages. Author Kaylin McFarren has crazy characters, attention-grabbing scenes, and an entertaining storyline, as the more you read the wilder the story gets. Soul Seeker is that kind of book which will make you think of the strangest things that can happen in a community, and alter the lives of almost everyone. Kaylin McFarren uses literary stylistic devices in her book, making the reading even more compelling. I appreciate the use of flashbacks, similes, metaphors, humor, and symbolism in the book. Every page is worth the reading.

Soul Seeker starts with the introduction of one peculiar man, Benjamin Poe. From the start, I had a feeling Poe’s life would be filled with misery. This man, Poe, is the most hated and feared individual. Having spent some years in a maximum-security prison, one can guess that Poe is a criminal. Enter Pierce Beaudoin and the story takes on an interesting turn. The flashback before being brought to the present helps the reader understand the background of some characters and the crimes committed. Benjamin Poe had a lot going on. At some point, one would feel empathetic due to his state, while on other occasions the reader feels that Poe deserves what he had coming.

Crighton Daemonium was one of the characters that built the hype in the book. He is looking for wicked souls to add to his plans. Benjamin Poe, being a central figure in the story, also happens to be a target. Poe’s life is not the most pleasing, as he is having marital problems back at home and his son who is dear to him, gets involved in activities which make the situation worse. Crighton Daemonium’s entry into the story and Poe’s life did him no good. Crighton was manipulative, threatening, and even convinced Poe to take the life of his son. The murder worked for Chrisghton because he now had both the souls of the father and the son. Crighton and his dealings were scary. Any scene that involved him was hair-raising as the reader never knew what was next with him.

Soul Seeker has several supernatural themes that are intriguing and exciting to follow. Other major themes in the book include murder, family, professionalism, law, and freedom. Kaylin McFarren did great with the development of the plot as each scene has something more engaging and exciting to follow. The characters in the book are finely developed, with the major characters having strong and distinct qualities that help the story take shape. I had several favorite characters but Benjamin Poe stood out for me the most. This book is a page-turner. It is enjoyable to read and encourages the reading culture among young readers as the plot is thrilling and engrossing.
