Dakota’s Angel by author Bertrice Woods is a breathtaking and heartfelt novel about a young girl, Angelica Peters. Having lost her parents at a young age due to tragic circumstances, Angela is adopted by her auntie, Nicole. Close to where Nicole lived, was a close-knit pleasant family, the Donaldson’s. They warmly welcome Angel into their family like one of their own. Since she was young, Angel has had her attention on Dakota Donaldson, her best friend Shelby’s elder brother. Dakota on the other hand always viewed her as his little sister and felt the need to always protect her. Angel lives her life hoping that one day her dream of marrying Dakota will be real and he will reciprocate her feelings for him.
Author Bertrice Woods has created magic in this book. From her vivid settings and clever descriptions, she does not disappoint. I loved the ambiance that the author created. Dakota and Angelica had something special between them, an almost enchanting bond. This is a well-written story that is extremely interesting. It was easy to feel all the emotions that the characters were dealing with.
The character development is superb. Woods does a great job capturing the thoughts of the protagonist. Her internal monologues make it clear that she is living in the hope that Dakota will one day realize she is the woman of his dreams. Dakota’s Angel is written with lucidity and meticulousness, creating a relationship between the reader and the characters with evocative imagery and skill.
The writer cleverly transitions between the past and the present without revealing too much to the reader. Readers will enjoy reading Dakota’s and Angel’s pursuit to overcome their challenges and fight for their love. I enjoyed the satisfying ending that left no cliffhangers which tied up neatly the loose ends, not leave readers guessing the outcome. This novel would make a very successful romance movie.
The editing is impeccable which makes the reading easy and enjoyable. I commend the author for writing such an incredible and intense book. I was thoroughly drawn into the narrative and enjoyed reading each chapter through until the end. Dakota’s Angel is certainly worth reading and I hope the author continues to write similar books in the future.
