Tavia Lynn Kalliston’s fantasy novel, “Magical Music Planet,” is an adventurous tale about three talented children, Melody Bell, Harmon E. Chord, and Justin Time, and their mission to restore music to Earth. One day, everyone on Earth wakes up to a horrifying discovery; they can’t sing, play instruments, or listen to already-created songs anymore. An unfortunate incident on planet Mutonia, the planet of music, has caused the supply of musical sounds to stop flowing to Earth. These special children are the only ones who can resolve this issue and restore peace to Mutonia. Hopefully, they can complete their mission in good time and return to Earth to finally fulfill their dreams of becoming the most celebrated pop stars in the entire world.

I must commend the author for the creativity, imagination, and vibrancy which this book embodies. I believe this will appeal to children’s imaginative tendencies and encourage them to be creative. The illustrations are very attractive and colorful. I must compliment the illustrator for the detailed illustrations. I love how the illustrator found a way to include musical words and symbols in every illustration, and they were all placed in fitting positions. I believe this book is most suitable for children between the ages of four and twelve. Another thing I like about this book is that it encourages children to pursue their passion from a young age. I think it would be nice for children who are interested in music or other forms of art to read this book.

I also like that the chapters are short. I think that’s my best aspect of the book because it makes it really easy to read the book all at once or in manageable bits, and I think this is a great feature for children’s books to have. I thought the world-building was also well thought out, and it was obvious the author paid special attention to the names of the different locations and characters, ensuring they were all musical in some way. Another positive feature of this book is the constant checking in between DJ, Lord Barkley Bass-Clef, and Middle C throughout the mission. I think this is worth noting because it is an important lesson children should learn about safety. That is, they should always let their parents or a responsible adult know what they’re doing, where they’re going, and with whom, to avoid being stranded so the adults know where to check and who to call in case of any emergency.

Overall, “Magical Music Planet” is a vibrant book that will be a nice choice for parents trying to encourage the creative interests of their children.
