The Coming: Footpath to the End of the Age by author David Heeren tells the story of a preacher who is called by God to serve as a prophet, only to find himself on the run after being mistaken for a biochemical terrorist.
Charles Morgen is unable to withstand the burning internal push from the Holy Spirit to go out there and prophecy, just like the Old Testament prophets. His wife Vera is scared stiff by this disclosure but eventually gains the courage to join him in his first mission on the streets of Orlando. The event is soon followed by another one at the old 7-11 on Highway 19. The message is the same; the residents of America have for a long time disregarded God, and have given themselves to various evils and sins such as bloodshed, unfaithfulness, lying, and murder. Because of these vices, God wants to bring upon them punishment.
As strange as it may sound, a sneaky store owner from whom the couple earlier purchased imperishable food, sturdy clothing, boots, and hunting supplies, curiously follows them to 7-11 and secretly video-records Charles as he delivers the shuddering prophecy. The couple is later stunned to see their pictures appear on television, and can’t believe it when the President of the United States links their recent activities to the ruinous attack that occurred in Washington the previous day, leaving many dead and thousands of others hanging by a thread. The couple is left with no choice but to do the inevitable – run!
This is a highly adrenalizing text which leaves no stone unturned concerning one of the longest standoffs in Christian circles; the battle between true and pseudo prophets. The story heavily depicts the Old Testament event between Elijah and the four hundred Baal prophets, where the latter anonymously supported the evil the former had solely been commanded by God to castigate. The story also demonstrates the outcome of persistent faith and unrelenting obedience, and Christians globally will want to have this book for edification and inspiration in a world that is fast dismissing Christianity as noisy, out-of-place, and unnecessary.
There is a lot of action, twists, and conversations that beautifully revolutionize a reader’s experience with every new chapter. Themes such as deception, greed, pride, and subordination, have been nicely illustrated, and readers will love the clear role each character has been given, to excellently tell a timely and crucial message.
The Coming: Footpath to the End of the Age is not your usual Christian publication, but a unique blend of verses, prayer, action, and drama which will have you stick to your seat until the end. It is highly suspenseful and will leave you guessing the next move of a protagonist who finds himself in a mess, while at the helm of his spirituality.
