Unchronicled will catch you off guard in such a wonderful way. One of the most amazing aspects of any book is not really knowing what you’re getting into until it’s all over, and Unchronicled pays off big in that respect. There is no questioning the story is an action/adventure category at its core, but it allows a few other genres to seep in every once in a while, making it more than just a shoot’em-up story. Unchronicled is close to a perfect story, which says a lot, but here is why it is so great.
Author Kamil Przybylo seems to have found a nice balance between storytelling and character development in this book because you don’t feel lacking in either. Although you get both story and character development, the book doesn’t feel long; it’s one of those books you could probably finish in one sitting if you wanted to. The main character, Auron, is likable because he is a realistic hero who isn’t perfect, but you still want him on your side.
The story starts when Auron and a few friends find a man who has had a car wreck. Unbeknownst to them, stopping to help sets their lives down a harrowing path of danger and possibly even death. This story has all the elements of a blockbuster action film you would expect to see Will Smith or Harrison Ford in – and maybe you will someday – but it also has a supernatural element you wouldn’t expect. Przybylo manages to slide in this and other elements like mystery and, of course, romance without ever detracting from the central theme.
On the technical side, this book checks every box and does so in stride. It is unlikely this book could have transitioned any smoother from scene to scene and chapter to chapter. It entirely skips the “and then this happened” trap many authors fall into because it’s easy to do. Everything in this story happens for a reason, and all the pieces just fall into place the deeper you dive into the story. Unchronicled has excellent action scenes, a fantastic overall adventure plot, and fun arcs which give more depth to the story without enveloping it.
Kamil Przybylo has struck gold with Unchronicled. Rarely is a book void of some kind of flaw, no matter how insignificant, but it is hard to find one in this story. Hopefully, there is much more to come from this author’s mind, but until then, readers must be content with this magnificent story everyone will love.
