Affair: Book One Dark Skies is a stimulating, intriguing, and entertaining book fiction lovers will enjoy. The stories in the book, paired with the many characters, have a unique start and ending, making this book special in a fine way. Author Tony Stanford does not have regular characters, nor does he have a typical plotline. Every mini-story has a mini-twist, and the best thing of it all – the suspense. What makes Suicide Affair: Book One Dark Skies an intriguing read is the suspense the author builds from the onset. The reader is unsure of the plot’s direction and how the author will plan for his characters. If you are the kind of reader who gets drawn to distinctive stories in the same book, then you will have a good time indulging in the stories in Suicide Affair: Book One, Dark Skies.
Every story is different – yet similar – in some elements. The first story I loved was ‘The Forsaken Queen’. It is the first story that will get the reader engrossed to the end. Meet 7-year-old Rita, a young girl who, instead of enjoying the joy that childhood brings, has to deal with a stressful environment at home. Rita’s father, Homer Pierce, is almost always irate and unstable. Joanna, her mother, rarely takes life as seriously as she should; she has her weaknesses and her end is unfortunately tragic. Rita lives in a toxic home, and things get worse every time. One day, Rita’s father murders her mother, and that marks the beginning of new struggles for the girl. This story is intense and elicits deep emotions. The themes of death, abuse, dysfunctional families, and violence are presented, giving the reader a perspective of how unfair life can be for innocent children caught up in their parent’s mess.
The next story, ‘Dark Sky’, was another captivating read. Meet Garth, a young lad who, instead of living a normal life, gets forced into a life of vengeance and death. Like the first story, ‘Dark Sky’ is also a tale with overwhelming twists, especially for young characters. ‘Shadow of A Dragon’ is another amazing read that will open the minds of many readers about tolerance, especially regarding human diversity. Like the stories before, Tony Stanford does not fail to add a dark theme and unforeseen turns. ‘Lost Princess’ and the ‘Anti-Boy Scouts’ were as great as the other stories, but ‘The Forsaken Queen’ takes the crown for me. The book has four parts and each part had a story I considered a favorite. ‘Thou Shalt Not Poke the Dragon’ is another story that everyone should look forward to reading.
I like that the author intertwines the dark themes in every tale. You enjoy following the stories while asking yourself questions, as you enjoy the flow of the story. What I loved about these stories is how the author makes the reader live in the characters’ minds. As you read on, you feel like you are part of the character’s activities and thinking processes. Suicide Affair: Book One Dark Skies has fascinating tales and the wild and thoughtful themes which Tony Stanford has throughout the book. This is an incredible read for thriller and fantasy enthusiasts.
