Author Patricia Redican’s Terror in Six Mile Canyon is an irresistible story of a family whose lives are threatened by the unexpected discovery of minerals on a newly purchased property. The proprietors’ daughter and grandchild are particularly vulnerable since they are seen to be the ideal bargain for carrying out an obscene scheme.
Victoria Ackerman is startled to see her lover Steven half-naked on the floor of her home, next to Amy, to whom Vicky recently rented her upstairs master suite. Amy, who appears upset and irate with Steven, is dressed in a see-through negligee. Earlier, Vicky had seen her flirting with Steven, and she wondered why he was not resisting. Steven alleges that he entered the house to see how Vicky was doing at her brother Tom’s request. He further claims he was taken aback when someone inside the house hit him in the head and stripped him of his clothes while unconscious, in an effort to give Vicky a false impression of his visit.
It turns out that Vicky’s renter, Amy, has a mental disorder that causes her to behave in bizarre ways. Nevertheless, Vicky agrees to Amy’s brother Sam’s request to let Amy reside at her house again – as long as she takes her medicine exactly as prescribed. With his charisma and excellent looks, Sam, who comes across as a loving and committed brother, manages to win her over. However, although she is desperate for the rent money, it would be best for her to thoroughly look into the siblings’ background.
Set in the charming little mining town of Virginia City, this second book in a two-part series profoundly explores themes of deceit, duplicity, romance, and ghosts. The narrative swings focus to a recently divorced individual, who finds herself as the subject of a heinous conspiracy involving a property which she has nothing to do with. One of the case’s crucial witnesses turns up bruised and bleeding at her home, which begs the question of why he was placed there. Against the backdrop of the major suspect’s arrest and a love triangle twist, the reader is prompted to discern the presence of an unseen hand.
Terror in Six Mile Canyon has well-crafted characters whose identities and roles are neatly depicted. For its sort, it is incredibly distinctive in the way it embodies the living and non-living characters. Despite the fact that it necessitates a comprehensive and careful reading, its many turns and twists add to its exhilarating mood, keeping the reader fascinated and guessing. It is guaranteed to make even the pickiest reader thrilled.
