HBR: What inspired you to start writing?
I always loved story telling—as an advertising guy, and actor, and director.
HBR: How long have you been writing?
26 years.
HBR: What was the inspiration for the story?
I liked the idea of chance encounters and mistaken identity. I have written a few thrillers and adventure stories and wanted to try another one.
HBR: What do you hope your readers take away from this book “Close Call”?
Curioisity kills the cat. It can get a human being in trouble and become hunted by the police.
HBR: Tell us about the process for coming up with the cover.
I wanted to capture the role that telephone plays in the story….and created some intrigue with the destruction of that device.
HBR: What is the future for the characters? Will there be a sequel?
I don’t think so, but I have written other books about romance
HBR: Do you write listening to music? If so, what music inspired or accompanied this current book?
I do not listen to music when I write. If so, I would be singing.
HBR: What were the key challenges you faced when writing this book?
My key challenge was mixing his pursuit by the cops with his attraction to the female character.
HBR: What was the highlight of writing this book?
The end scene. I like the way everything resolves.
