Daughter of Destiny is a compelling memoir that shows the importance of prayer and faith. Jennifer Thomas has written a book that will resonate with readers.
Daughter of Destiny tells the story of Jennifer Thomas, a woman who encounters several misfortunes in her life. Thomas writes about being a sexual abuse survivor while suffering from a traumatic childhood. She enters and survives many abusive relationships while she cares for her children. Thomas also writes about how she had to deal with toxic co-workers in her numerous jobs as well. However, despite the obstacles she deals with, Thomas overcomes through her faith and her visions about improving her life.
Thomas writes eloquently about how her visions about natural disasters before they happened helped her appreciate her life. She also writes about how she survived drug addiction and low self-esteem through her faith in God. While Thomas had many hardships, she also had many joyous moments. She writes about how her children helped her want to make her life better. She also writes about meeting influential ministers like T.D. Jakes and even met pre-fame Prince at a record store.
Thomas’ writing is very relatable, especially about her overcoming tragedy. Her poetic writing about her faith also is evident throughout the text: “My soul had to sail on broken pieces of wreckage at sea for many days, nights, and even years. I had no one but the Holy Spirit there to comfort me and grant me grace along that journey.”
She also intersperses Bible verses in her text to exhort readers to have faith: “For whoso findeth me findeth life, And shall obtain favor of the Jehovah,” (Proverbs 8:35).” Thomas also wrote about how the Bible helped her cope with her visions: “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.”
Daughter of Destiny would be best for readers who want to learn more about the Christian faith. The book would also be ideal for readers who want to read about religious and spiritual premonitions, like Heaven is for Real. Even readers who aren’t religious will find inspiration in how Thomas persevered in the face of many troubling circumstances. Daughter of Destiny is an unforgettable memoir that will enlighten and empower readers.
