Author Carlo Armenise has impeccably written the mystery novel Deceitful Intentions, which revolves around a young twenty-four-year-old girl named Raven who survives a deadly car accident which claimed her mother’s life. Still, somehow, Raven survives with a severe injury, which results in an amputated leg and a memory loss from the traumatic event of watching her mother die in front of her eyes. After about two years of her surgery and coma, Raven goes back to her hometown, where her mother left her, her house and belongings in the will.
After she reaches Michigan, she receives help from her school friend, Julia, in retrieving her lost memory, but in the process, they come across a revelation which takes them in shock. They both came to know the accident in which Alice died was not just a natural accident but an action supported by much more deceitful intentions. The book also has a remarkable sense of timing, with each chapter concluding with an unexpected twist that advances the plot.
