E-Troubled Destiny: Can Love Grow Out of Chaos? is an intelligently written book by R. Drew Springfield. The text follows Elaine, an American woman whose life is upended after her marriage crumbles leaving her frustrated and weary. With a rebellious 16-year-old daughter to take care of too, Elaine concludes that all the good seems to have disappeared and all the bad lingers on with no end in sight.
Although she tries to put up a brave front to the current situation, she feels the little trust she had remaining has been depleted and when an opportunity presents itself to take on a two-year assignment in Istanbul, Turkey, Elaine is only too glad to leave San Antonio. Hesitant but resolute, she embarks on changing the trajectory of her life and career building.
Springfield lets readers in on Elaine’s experiences three months on, after landing in Turkey. Fate has a different plan when she meets Ryan, a young airman stationed in Istanbul, who declares his love for the thirty-eight-year-old woman. As she struggles to stay afloat with the current situation, Paddy, a man from her past, makes a sudden appearance in Turkey. For Elaine, this is beyond confusing as she realizes she owes the two men the truth while confronting her tumultuous past.
The author’s addictive and easy writing will ensnare even the most hesitant reader. The book is narrated in the third person and twirls around the two main characters, Ryan and Elaine. The text glides through a dungeon of emotions as readers encounter the thoughts, views, and feelings of the protagonists. Springfield does not relent in his prose and its vibrancy is evident throughout the writing. While the romance bit is the primary focus of the book, the writer avoids being too florid and gives ample space for Elaine’s career growth as well.
E-Troubled Destiny: Can Love Grow Out of Chaos? by R. Drew Springfield is a thoughtful and ruminant tale that will appeal to romance fans.
