Hollywood Book Reviews

Four in Thirteen Chambers is a provocative and enlightening book about spirituality and religion. Author V.N. Lewis has written a book about the spirit that is sure to spark many discussions.

Lewis writes about how she quit her corporate job to find spiritual fulfillment. A common theme of Four in Thirteen Chambers is to reject the materialistic ideas of Western culture and to find salvation in religion. She writes about several topics which she makes a spiritual connection to, such as work, relationships, and even food. Lewis writes about how Christianity has been commercialized and how Christian holidays should return to their original spiritual meanings.

While the book is very spiritual and focused on Christianity, Lewis also writes about different beliefs, such as astrology, and how it can impact peoples’ lives. Four in Thirteen Chambers combines different spiritual practices to give advice to people to live their best lives. She also has insightful commentary about how popular culture has commercialized women’s bodies and how they should be treated equally to men even if they’re spiritually different.

While the book has broad themes about religion and spiritual matters, Lewis makes the book unique with her personal stories. A particularly moving part of the book is the Bible verse her father shared with her before he passed away showing their special bond and faith to start “taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.“ Her personal stories about how she learned to be healthier by taking better care of her body and her mind through meditation and mindful eating.

Lewis’ writing is both complex and relatable to readers. In the same text, she can write eloquently about the scientific reasons for needing sleep and reference comedy sketches to explain how laughter can heal people. While some of her beliefs about the causes of cancer may be controversial, she has many insights into health that readers can resonate with as well.

Four in Thirteen Chambers would be best for people who want to learn more about spirituality and science. Fans of Deepak Chopra would like Lewis’ insights. The book would also be best for readers who want to learn more about how to find happiness outside of mindless consumerism. Lewis has written a thought-provoking book that will inspire readers to re-examine their lives to have the lives they were destined to lead.
