In Author Robert Gallant’s book titled God’s Domain, Chesney Barrett and Travis Weld are two characters which made this piece of literature exciting to read. I was captivated by Chesney’s character from the very start of the book. I enjoyed the work she did; collecting water and vegetable samples in the swamp does not seem like a fun job, but I liked the originality of the job she did. “I need your help on an urgent job in Mexico,” came Travis Weld’s text as she went on her job kicking off a series of events. What followed from the time Chesney received the text was not only interesting but also totally absorbing. Gallant goes on to describe Chesney Barrett’s character; though faced with a few challenges, she was a go-getter, and was determined in everything she did. I even felt bad when reading about her mother’s death when she had been killed after a drug dealer fleeing from the police had rammed her car.
Chesney Barrett’s journey was daring and dauntless. She had to go through a lot of obstacles to save the archaeologist in Mexico; which created a heroic protagonist character. Her friend, Travis, was a great character too. I admired how skilled he was, and how well he knew his stuff. Obviously Gallant did extensive research in order to build credibility with Travis’s technical knowledge. Gallant makes readers want to learn much more of the knowledge he possessed. For Chesney to accomplish her mission, she had to lie and also be smart. She even had to change her identification when necessary.
God’s Domain reads like a thriller. There is no single chapter that didn’t have action. It follows a storytelling style which makes readers feel as if they are watching a Hollywood film. The plot flows excellently from the first chapter of the book to the last. There are no parts where the reader is left hanging. The author makes sure that readers grasp every operation.
Character development is brilliant as everyone played their role well. Robert Gallant uses vivid descriptions when talking about the events, immersing readers into every detail of the book. I was engrossed throughout my reading. This book is so interesting and difficult to put down, I finished it in only two sessions.
The drama, suspense, hair-raising events, death scenes, and complex assignments made the story chilling and exciting to read. I recommend this book to any literature lover who enjoys sinking deep into spellbinding stories. You will forget yourself the moment you get hold of God’s Domain. I would immediately read a sequel of this book if it becomes available. Robert Gallant is undoubtedly a master of creativity in storytelling, there is a lot which one can admire in his work. Smooth sentences, great story flow, and a fantastic plot is how I can briefly describe the book.
