Many self-help books promise the moon and the stars…and oodles of money, lasting health and happiness. The million-dollar question here is: how successful are the authors of these? Do they do, or do they only teach (and write, and proselytize?)
You’ll want to read Gopi Nair, because he is real and he knows of what he writes. He has achieved his financial and personal goals and his book, in plain and compelling language, shows the reader how to do the same.
Gopi Nair, has a Masters Degree from India, early on realized that his dreams could be actualized by harnessing positive patterns of mind. (He went on to achieve greater personal and material success as a mortgage broker.) He realized that we are what we think. For better or worse, our thoughts and feelings always manifest. Thoughts and feelings, held passionately before the mind’s eye, become one’s reality. ‘External’ circumstances – relationships, career, possessions – are reliable indicators and windows into the state of the spirit and soul.
Here’s how it works: Practice gratitude. Gratitude is the opposite of resentment; it is a magnet that attracts health, positivity, wealth, happiness. Ancient wisdom put it like this: As above, so below. (The macrocosm of the universe is replicated in the microcosm of man.) And, The universe reciprocates in kind – manifold. (You get back whatever you give, in spades.)
Desire is a two-edged sword. If we think we don’t know what we want, indecision and uncertainty rule our lives – we become the passive victims of the winds of change. Those who learn to craft their thoughts, always in the direction of increase, kindness, and appreciation, reap the attendant rewards.
The author cites wisdom from the Bible, the Bhagavad Gita, and the Koran; his fluency with world traditions underlines the universality and broad applicability of the knowledge presented in this book. Sources include Napoleon Hill, Norman Vincent Peale, and many others.
How I Made $500,000 in Selling at Age 69 is ostensibly about realizing material – financial – dreams. But it is so much more. The book is an extraordinarily well written guide to success in any realm. Financial, personal, and spiritual goals are attainable once they are spelled out and lovingly nurtured. It is never too late to begin the process – Gopi Nair’s self-actualization begins at age 69!
Gratitude for what we have been given in this life is the cornerstone and guiding light of success. An ‘attitude of gratitude’ sets a bucket brigade of neuro-immunological changes in motion that result in health, harmony and fulfillment. Gopi Nair cites studies revealing that positive thinking is accompanied by measurable increases in immunologic function and resistance to stress. He also spells out healthful practice, including visualization and success ‘score’ keeping, that have worked for him and will work for readers.
What sets this book apart from other self-help titles is its immediate readability, the humility of its tone, and the authenticity of the writer’s voice. He’s still ‘got it going’; read this book if you want to find out how.
