A question which has been widely discussed over the years, especially with the advancement of technology and a better understanding of the Universe, does life on other planets exist or is humanity truly alone? Furthermore, one of the most profound questions is not just if alien life exists, but what their intentions would be if they had achieved the level of intelligence and exploration so many people have theorized. Would they approach us as friends and allies, or would they see us as hostile or threatening?
This question becomes the driving force in author Michael Albright’s IT BEGINS. The story follows a world suddenly hit with two massive disappearances of passenger aircraft on opposite sides of the world, both of which disappear in a bright white light. Only one, in Brazil, has the return of its passengers, or at least their bodies, all missing their internal organs. From there, a prominent government agency operating in the shadows emerges, working to protect the Earth from the alien threat that is emerging.
An engaging and thrilling narrative, the author does a remarkable job of capturing the fear of the unknown which so many people have in regard to alien life and alien encounters. A major part of the paranormal community, alien investigations have always questioned the intentions of any interaction between humans and aliens, and the theme of survival and the heart-pounding terror that so many experiences in these moments of interaction were perfectly on display in this narrative. The relatability of the experiences these characters had, especially the way readers can connect with the actions and experience of protagonist Rear Admiral Michael Scott, keep the readers invested in this narrative along with the terror as it ramps up through each chapter.
This novel will greatly appeal to readers who are fans of science fiction, fantasy, suspense, mystery, drama, and even elements of horror as the story expands on the terrifying circumstances of alien encounters which end with loss of life. The tone and action of the narrative has elements of stories like Independence Day And Falling Skies, with humanity fighting for survival and focusing less on the advanced technology and alien mythology that other sci-fi novels tend to concentrate on. The tension and the introduction to the greater threat humanity faces makes this a compelling start to a brand-new science fiction series. This story is a gripping dive into the shadowy unknown, where every answer leads to more terrifying questions. In IT BEGINS, Michael Albright launches a high-stakes sci-fi thriller where survival means uncovering secrets humanity was never meant to know.
