It Is Morning is a wonderfully written and emotionally engaging novel by author Vernon Bargainer which explores contemporary themes and is the first volume in its series.

Andy Boone was excited to start a new future in East Texas. On his way to his new job location, he accidentally thrashed his car through the fence on a country road which led him to a spot where he had last seen his childhood crush, Lorrie Dean, twenty years earlier. Something had happened in David G. Burnet Elementary School whose past Andy could not escape. He needed to find Lorrie Dean and make amends.

His efforts to look for her were proving extremely difficult since he could not seem to find any records of her or her family. It was as if they had disappeared from the face of the Earth. His actions do not go unnoticed as the FBI begins tracking him down seeking answers. This begins a series of events that Andy had been least prepared for.

Author Vernon Bargainer has written a remarkable story of love, persistence, friendship, and forgiveness. From the onset, the prose is remarkably refined. Inserting fresh doses of dialogue into the narrative ensures that the story is more captivating than one could imagine.

The twists and turns in the book made this an engaging read. It turns out that Lorrie Dean was nearer to Andy than he would have thought. The author has certainly invested in character development. I easily connected with all the characters and especially the main character since their feelings were deeply portrayed.

This tale was a breath of literary fresh air. The story stayed with me long after the reading was over. The language used is modern and family-friendly – hence appealing to a larger audience. No matter what one’s literary taste is, It Is Morning by Vernon Bargainer will not disappoint. This imaginative and touching mystery is well worth the time!
