Author R. A. Fedak’s Jay Jax 1936 is a murder mystery story about uncovering secrets regarding the protagonist’s friend’s death, which is tightly wrapped with surprising elements which will utterly throw the detective reader off.

Jay, a private investigator, receives a letter from his long-time buddy Tony, inviting him to meet up after the latter’s performance in San Francisco. Tony signed it with his military rank, which gives Jay the impression that something is amiss. When Tony is found dead in what appears to be a suicide, Jay immediately initiates an investigation since he does not believe Tony could have done that to himself.

Jay believes the opera team, of which Tony was a vocalist, was tasked with performing on the San Francisco tour for a specific reason. As the opera progresses, he finds out about two more deaths, which leads him to believe that there is more going on than first meets the eye. He also learns that the band is scheduled to meet with Hitler, which makes him question the State Department’s endorsement of the band’s tour of military bases. But when he starts looking, startling facts surface which cause him to re-evaluate his suspicions.

Despite its simplicity, the plot manages to create an engaging series of events that completely capture the reader’s interest. It generates a great deal of suspense by bringing up diplomatic and espionage concerns with a sense of urgency and secrecy. The protagonist exhibits his best skills in a spectacular way, showcasing his charisma, energy, and appealing demeanor, also alluding to close calls and recasting the mystery into several possibilities, he manages to play on the reader’s worst fears.

With the curious reader in mind, Jay Jax 1936 by R.A. Fedak is brilliantly written and extremely thrilling.
