In author Rian McMurtry’s Light From Darkness, the latest in this fantasy series sees protagonist Angie Fujimori tackling her senior year. Yet on top of her school year and preparing to enter the world, she must also find a way to save it, as her years learning and working within the world of wizards has given her a powerful understanding of things beyond human comprehension. Soon their power grows and Angela and her allies begin their journey to become something much more than they ever thought possible.
The author does a marvelous job of delving even further than ever before into the fantasy realm, and incorporates elements of science fiction as well, to give this story a fresh and powerful new approach. The character evolution from book 1 to now makes this book the strongest in the series. The struggles early on for the characters become apparent, as some relish their abilities as they grow stronger while others fear what will happen if they lose control, all the while fighting to save humanity and the world, even if it’s from themselves.
This is the perfect read for anyone who enjoys deep mythological stories set within a fantasy and science fiction framework. As a fan of the genre, it was fascinating to see these characters grow and the integration of so many different fantasy elements, from magic and vampires to teleportation and the gods themselves. This is truly a memorable read within the genre.
A phenomenal, evenly-paced and magical read, author Rian McMurtry’s Light From Darkness is a must read novel. A fantastic blend of mythology and character development, fans of the series will not be able to put the book down.
