As stated in this book, forty-seven million adults are afflicted with Alzheimer’s, which is a disease defined as “progressive mental deterioration that can occur in middle or old age, due to generalized degeneration of the brain. It is the most common cause of premature senility.” Chances are, at some point in every person’s life, they will have someone close to them who suffers from this disease. I have known this to be true personally and it is truly tragic to see this take over someone’s life that you love. This is why I feel this book is especially important since author Vicki Mizel reveals her methods to improve memory and prevent memory loss from worsening in, Love Remembers.

As the author touches on in this book, whenever someone hears that a loved one has been diagnosed with some form of dementia or Alzheimer’s itself, it can be very alarming and terrifying news to receive. But here, we learn new ways to retrain the brain as well as feed it. There’s also the possibility of stem cell treatments to achieve improvement. These are exciting avenues to go down that could potentially better the lives of those in need and prevent tragedy from playing out in front of our very eyes. These options were not available in the past, but now, with the help of doctors like Vicki Mizel, there is hope once again.

For a little backstory, Mizel is an educator and psychologist who has been improving memory loss in Alzheimer’s patients since 1984 and she demonstrates throughout this book all of her step-by-step methods to help improve memory in not only patients but those who are showing any signs of memory issues. These methods can help people of all ages and walks of life to improve their brain health and memory for the long-term, hopefully resulting in preventing Alzheimer’s from becoming an issue later in life.

For anyone who has known someone affected by this terrible disease, or they themselves have been struggling with memory loss issues, this book is for you. It will enlighten you to a whole new world of possibilities that, in the long run, can do nothing but help you to succeed in living a longer, fuller, and happier life by taking care of your brain health, first and foremost. It is incredibly important and I was so glad that author Vicki Mizel enlightened us all to these life-changing methods in Love Remembers.
