One of the last great frontiers for mankind to explore is none other than space. Much like Star Trek’s Spock, the intellectual and spiritual journey to explore the stars and find what our place in the Universe truly means has become our world’s most fascinating and special mission in more recent years. From the space race of the Cold War to the more modern missions to protect Earth from asteroids and landing a rover on Mars, our first steps into the cold reaches of space have been instrumental in furthering our understanding of the Universe, and yet so much remains unknown. Part of this search brings into question the major religions on Earth, and how they play into the unknowns of space, including how the possibilities of other intelligent life impacts a person’s faith.

In author Jeremy Westerman’s Pre-Apocalypse I: Serpent’s Agenda, the author explores this question through the eyes of a Delta Force space cadet and a conspiracy-theory lens. When Gage Moorland is recruited into a secret military force to go into space and battle the nefarious reptilians who have infiltrated the Earth for eons, he finds himself cast into the role of Earth’s protector as the head reptilian challenges him to battle over the Earth and Moon. Using his training, Gage will not only take up the challenge, but uncover the depths for which the alien race has infiltrated the human race, from secret societies and the New World Order to the infamous CERN lab and the creatures’ plans to use the lab to resurrect their reptilian god Nimrod. As the possibilities of this old god becoming the antichrist or Beast of Revelations, Gage will have to race to prevent an apocalypse of cataclysmic proportions.

The author did an incredible job of blending real-life conspiracy theories and religious beliefs into a fully-realized, galactic-spanning fictional world. The world-building and imagery that the author’s writing style conjures to the reader’s mind was spectacular realized in this book, and the mythos of the author’s fictional world played beautifully into well-established conspiracy theories and faith-based texts. The way the author explores multiple POVs, including those within the New World Order itself, was inspiring and creative, and made the story feel like a sci-fi series waiting to be made.

This is the perfect read for those who enjoy sci-fi novels, especially those that blend conspiracy theories and religious points of view into the narrative. I found the mythology and study of modern-day culture, including the entirety of the reptilian lore, a truly fascinating twist into the space exploration storyline. The idea of secret societies and the power they collect making its influence on space itself was chilling, and balanced out the action and suspense of the author’s novel.

Harrowing, action-packed, and entertaining, author Jeremy Westerman’s Pre-Apocalypse I: Serpent’s Agendais a must-read sci-fi epic and thriller you won’t want to miss. The cinematic quality of the author’s writing style and the rich atmosphere are balanced well with in-depth character development that readers will be able to identify with, including a protagonist that embodies the classic sci-fi hero that readers can rally behind.
