Kenny Harmon’s Reflections, Part I is a heartfelt memoir comprising the triumphs and struggles of Kenny Harmon and the lessons he learned since his teenage days.
Hermann was a famous name of the ancient German lineage and those called by it were fortunate to explore as far west as the Mississippi River, with one of them founding the first English-speaking settlement west of the Allegheny Mountains in 1745. Some of the family members settled in Pennsylvania, while others moved to the Shenandoah Valley, and North Carolina, after which they changed the spelling of the Hermann name to Harman or Harmon.
On March 16th, 2016, Kenny Harmon became an internet sensation after a family cookout that went wrong. His granddaughter Kelsey noticed his pitiful look and proceeded to scoff at the others with his photo as he bit on his burger. The image had the caption, “Dinner with Papaw tonight… he made 12 burgers for all 6 grandkids, and I’m the only one who showed. love him.” A firestorm of empathy broke out on the internet, and in less than 24 hours, major media houses had the waves saturated with his name. Kenny got the chance to host a second cookout, and to his surprise, multitudes flowed from all over the world to share some love with him as they reflected on the importance of periodically checking on loved ones.
Harmon’s account accentuates the importance of unity, love, and devotion in the family setup. He has offered inspiring lessons that households can emulate to prevail over the challenges life throws at them. As a reader, I was greatly inspired by his story and couldn’t get enough of the historical occurrences shared, which included the sighting of the first UFO in 1952, the release of the first telephone answering machine in 1957, and the introduction of the first TV dinner in 1953.
Kenny Harmon’s Reflections, Part I has been beautifully written and edited. The author is a master storyteller, mentor, and motivator who honors dedication and sacrifice. I loved his enthusiasm in sharing his rich family’s history and can’t wait to get my hands on Part II of his awe-inspiring introspections. I highly recommend this book to readers of all ages.
