A riveting tale of time travel to alter the course of humanity. The core narrative revolves around a time-traveling apparatus, The Starway Seven, that uses innovations like an anti-gravity system, and Jennifer whose mission is to prevent certain events. President Jim Peck, in his grief, pushes through the mission to get some validation. He is questioning the very existence of a higher power, as many do when grieving the loss of a loved one. This book is a marriage between modern romance and religious fiction. Could Jennifer be the agent of change the president is hoping for?
Saving Christ: Starway Seven offers a unique spin on Jesus and his crucifixion. From the very beginning, readers are immersed in an unconventional narrative. This, you can tell from the get-go as the cover depicts what we can only assume is Jennifer with a gun in hand. It is a little confusing and intriguing at the same time. Her position at the front of the rest is an indication that she will be the central figure in this story. This kind of character development is maintained throughout the book as the author takes keen interest in ensuring each character is well understood and portrayed. The story adeptly delves into the motivations and beliefs of its characters, even those harboring hidden agendas. The narrative perspective offers insight into the characters’ inner worlds, like a character’s opinion of a scientist being intertwined with a lack of faith due to his scientific pursuits. The story vividly captures the atmosphere of the setting and its inhabitants, strictly adhering to the directive not to disrupt history’s course.
Author Francis T. Perry Williams provides ever so subtle hints rather than explicit details, leaving room for the reader’s imagination to fill in the gaps. It is almost like he is engaging the reader’s imagination and involving the reader in the development of the story. Although there are minor mistakes as well as some repetition, this does not contort the quality of writing in this book, or the plot of the story.
If you enjoy a good story which challenges the very fabric of your beliefs; if you like to read about romance and strong women protagonists; or, if you like to explore unusual, almost disturbing narratives then this is the book for you. Francis T. Perry Williams effectively explores the intriguing consequences of time travel. Time travel always sounds like a good idea but many rarely pause to think about what could happen. This book is thought provoking in many ways including the idea of what the world would be like if things had gone a little differently on Calvary. Definitely do not pick up this book if you do not have an open mind. If for nothing else, read this book to enjoy a little literary escape from reality.
Saving Christ: Starway Seven is a book worth reading. Get your blanket and settle in, this will be a good ride.
