Sermons with Insight is a collection of sermons from retired Lutheran minister Roland Zimany. His sermons comprise a book that will provide inspiration to readers.

Sermons with Insight starts with a series of Christmas sermons. In “Magnificat,” Zimany preaches about how Jesus Christ empathized with the disadvantaged with society. He contrasts the greed and commercialism of the holiday season with the true meaning of Christmas.

Zimany also preached about the government leaving behind the poor in another sermon, “Beyond Law and Prophets.”  He perfectly encapsulates the need for the government to care for forgotten people as Jesus Christ did when he cured the sick and defended vulnerable people. Rev. Zimany also speaks about the need for people to be proactive and take risks during Holy Week in “Now We Are Free!”

“If it also seems to be in accordance with God’s will, the full power of the Holy Spirit of freedom

will endorse you, if you will take a chance and act. Some of you know that that’s easier said than done. The Exodus, too, did not occur without effort. But it also would not have occurred

without faith that God wanted it and faith that God would lead the Israelites out. There are

forms of bondage that faith in God will enable you to step out of.”

Zimany’s speaking and writing about important spiritual issues shows his deep knowledge of Scripture.  He delves into the Bible to present spiritual life lessons about faith to his congregation. His sermons are relatable and he effortlessly brings the ancient stories of the Bible into modern times to readers. Zimany not only preaches about faith, but spirituality in other areas of life as well. When he speaks about topics as disparate as climate change, marriage, and poverty, he does so with great clarity.

In Sermons with Insight, Rev. Zimany speaks and writes eloquently about how God’s love is not restrictive, but is open and liberating to believers.  In a pleasant contrast to other ministers, Zimany’s sermons are filled with inclusivity and love, not exclusion and narrow-minded beliefs.

Sermons with Insight would be best for readers who want to learn more about the Christian faith, especially the Lutheran faith. The book would also be ideal for readers who want to read more about progressive Christianity that’s devoted to social justice.  Sermons with Insight is the perfect title for Zimany’s messages that will resonate with readers searching for spiritual meaning in their lives.
