The Gladiator: The Gladiator and Jesus is a religious book that is interesting to read and absorbing at the same time. The book reads like a Bible, only that it is a subtle version of the Bible as the stories have been simplified. The story of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph sound different, distinct and fresh despite being told several times. The author excellently narrated events and tales from the Bible in a manner that would make people read the Bible more. Tony Carangi was candid in his narrations and clear in his explanations. The diction is also commendable and the sentence structures are great. This is a great book for storytelling and sharing the word of God. Both children and adults who are fans of Christian literature will appreciate the stories and how they are told.

‘The tiny Man Idea’ was among the most remarkable parts of the book. The author’s style when starting the narrative is what had me hooked. Tony Carangi wrote that “The law says ‘In the beginning’, but there is no beginning or end, I tell you the truth there is only this very instant.” This was among the great opening statements that assured the reader that whatever the author had in store was exceptional. I enjoyed reading about the Holy Trinity. Tony Carangi explains how contentious the Holy Trinity is as we are taught that we are not separate from God, we are not part of God, and yet each and every one of us is God. To explain his ‘tiny mad idea’ the author expounds on the relationship between God and the son.

Some bits of the book requires one to read severally, as the topics covered are contradicting from the general knowledge Christians have. What makes this book exciting to read is that everything the author wrote about was factual. Every explanation was truthful and straightforward. I loved how the author broke down the story about Jesus and Sanyi on the open sea. The story starts after the wedding when Jesus stayed in Cana for three days. In the story, we are shown the importance of Mary Magdalene and her significance in the life of Jesus.

The author was a little unconventional in his narration, which made his style of writing different from other books in this genre. What makes The Gladiator: The Gladiator and Jesus an easy read is a fact that the author did not add any foreign character or twist any tale in the book. Everything he wrote is familiar to Christians and anyone who has ever read the bible. The lessons shared in the stories are vital too, as they are as wonderful as the stories. Tony Carangi is a brilliant author who knows how to get to his readers. I could feel the author’s words even when I had finished reading the book, as his book is that impactful.
