Hollywood Book Reviews

The Journey is the third book in the Gray Guardians Series. This book is as enchanting as the first two, if not more intriguing. The reader is wrapped up in an enthralling world where characters are wild, extra, and intelligent. Events in The Journey are otherworldly, literally, and figuratively. The reader gets to experience fantasy scenarios that are stimulating and entertaining. Unlike other book series, you do not need to have read the first two books to follow the story in the third volume. Author Kathy Porter wrote this book for readers that enjoy both ‘single’ reads and multiple book series.

We follow the story of Amanda Hartman, a child from a surrogate parent. Amanda’s mind is no ordinary one. She will think of things that the average person cannot process. Amanda Hartman hears voices in her head. She telepathically hears two women discussing the happenings of two planets. This conversation is not your typical conversation, and the sharp Amanda decides to tell her surrogate parent Morga. She shares her concerns and thoughts. What fascinates me is how Amanda is able to mentally convey their words. The reader can see through the women’s thoughts and their intentions through Amanda. This conversation becomes the trigger of numerous events. Just like Amanda thought, everyone can see the evil intentions these women had. The scenes that follow affect everyone in the book, and even lead to chaos and destruction of people, property, and elimination of many other species.

The Journey (Gray Guardians Series Book 3) contains all the drama you would want in a sci-fi book. Characters are aggressive, and the plot keeps getting thicker. I like the theme of chaos because it makes the reader think of peace, and appreciate calm societies. Kathy Porter knows how to engage the character. Some of my favorite conversations were between Amanda and Morga. The reader can feel the rawness of everyone, their unhinged moves, and the impact every leaders’ action had.  Apart from Amanda, Rosa De Angelo was another of my favorites. I liked her shrewdness and how calculative she was. Kathy Porter’s characters are pleasant throughout the book. I mostly like how they have superpowers, and skills that the reader may not have thought of. You appreciate every character as you delve deeper into the story, and even value their point of view.

There is no doubt that The Journey (Gray Guardians Series Book 3) has a unique plot and a thrilling storyline. The reader will also appreciate the several themes. Politics, family, and fantasy take center stage. The reader learns about the intricacies of leadership, navigating social circles, being active economically and creating and maintaining relations. My favorite subject in the book was telepathy and how interesting it can be. I was fascinated by Amanda, how her brain functioned, and her perspective on numerous issues.  Porter also continues to explore themes of survival, identity, and the consequences of humanity’s actions, both on Earth and in space. These themes resonate throughout the book, giving the reader much to ponder beyond the immediate excitement of the plot.

The Journey (Gray Guardians Series Book 3) is the ultimate book for you if you enjoy a good story and are attracted to fantasy and conspiracies. The characters, flow of the story, and the author’s diction made the reading experience fantastic. I highly recommend this book, as well as the entire series.  Whether you’re a long-time fan of the genre or new to it, The Journey is a book that should not be missed.
