Divided into two parts, this book initially starts as a memoir within which author Jameson traces and elucidates on the signs, symptoms, as well as potential causes for his often-stigmatized mental disorder; Bipolar Disorder. Moreover, part two of the book examines author B. Robert Jameson’s intriguing journey to recovery, aptly exemplifying the healing methods which worked for him, much of which dwelled in the realms of spirituality including the supernatural.
Starting out, life for author B. Robert Jameson was on a very successful path, with the promise of much more to come. Altogether, he was a man with a wonderful life, a loving wife and growing family. So, what broke him? What factors culminated into his storm of mental illness? In part one, author Jameson looks back in retrospect unabashedly sharing the elements of his initial trigger which led to his spiraling into mental illness. Also, he explores his stints of hospitalizations, reactions to medications, his encounters with alternative healing methods, as well as the heartbreaking effects on his family, career and coworkers.

Robert Jameson was an absolutely fascinating read, within which I found myself completely immersed in his spiraling world filled with highs and lows. His healing through spiritual modalities is nothing short of amazing. As a whole, this work presents a lucid, well-written offering, examining the complexities of mental illness and the ways of healing from it.
Ultimately, this memoir made for an illuminating, unabashed and profound read which helped to bring a deeper awareness to mental disorders. Also, demonstrating that mental illness affects all walks of life, but there is also, the potential for healing from this disorder without the extended use of zombifying drugs. Additionally, this book provides an eyewitness view of bipolar disorder from the perspective of the suffering person, who while on the path to healing comes into self-discovery. As well, what is truly amazing about this work is that it can be used as somewhat of a guide to healing from bi-polar disorder, and author Jameson does offer help and tips for other sufferers via a Facebook page. Definitively, a worthwhile read, I wholeheartedly recommend this book to the affected and their family members, as it is truly enlightening.
